Digital image processing technology for medical applications was inducted into the Space Foundation Space Technology Hall of Fame in 1994. Working in the MATLAB computing environment, it provides a stable, well-supported set of software tools capable of addressing a broad spectrum of applications in digital image processing. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Bengaluru campus organized a two-day national workshop on Trends and Developments in Signal Processing and Applications (TDSPA-13) during April 27-28, 2013. These chapters present methodological advances and recent applications of digital signal processing in various domains as communications, filtering, medicine, astronomy, and image processing.
